Required preliminary courses

After completing working in organisations (1) and public administrative processes and casework (2), the student is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:

Knowledge

The student

  • is capable of describing organisations from a systems theory perspective (1)
  • is capable of explaining key network theory concepts at individual and system level (1)
  • is capable of explaining the basic principles of organisational behaviour management (OBM) / performance management (PM) (1)
  • is capable of explaining the characteristics of and success criteria in organisational development (1)
  • has good knowledge of the responsible conduct requirement in healthcare legislation (2)
  • has knowledge of the public supervisory schemes for the health and care services (2)
  • has good knowledge of the Act relating to Municipal Health and Care Services, etc., particularly Chapter 9 on due process protection when using compulsion and power against individuals with mental disabilities (2)
  • has knowledge of the Act relating to patients' and users' rights, particularly Chapter 4A on healthcare for patients who are not competent to give or withhold consent who refuse healthcare (2)
  • has knowledge of guardianship and alternatives to guardianship (2)
  • has knowledge of the Act relating to social services in the labour and social welfare administration (2)

Skills

The student

  • is familiar with how network analysis can help to identify the internal and external challenges of organisations (1)
  • is capable of analysing the connection between desired behaviour by personnel and goal attainment in a workplace by using behaviour analytic procedures (1)
  • has communication and relational skills that promote cooperation in a workplace (1)
  • has skills in using constructive feedback in the workplace (1)
  • is capable of using behaviour analytic principles to see how desired behaviour by personnel promotes good working conditions for their colleagues and good living conditions for patients/users (1)
  • is capable of facilitating a motivating and positive working environment by means of behaviour analytic procedures (1)
  • is capable of lawful and satisfactory casework relating to applications for necessary municipal health and care services (2)

Competence

The student

  • is capable of explaining what is meant by competence to give consent and how competence to give consent can be assessed (2)
  • has insight into basic legal methods (2)

Learning outcomes

The course includes lectures, group work and self-study. The students will be divided into groups which will work independently on various issues from the course.
