Introduction
Introduction
This course promotes practical and theoretical knowledge about painting in an educational context. Focuses are on different two-dimensional expressions within the fields of painting, colour and composition, through theory and practice. A diversity of techniques and materials are introduced and explored through workshops and lectures. The course is adapted for working with a personal expressions within painting, utterances, critical thinking and assessment. The course is adapted for international exchange.

The student
- has broad knowledge about materials, tools and techniques relevant to the subject painting
- has knowledge about contemporary art and can use this as a reference and inspiration in his/her own creative work

Skills:
The student
- is capable of reflecting on, discussing and applying subject specific knowledge on theoretical and practical aesthetical issues
- is capable of exploring and evaluating the interplay between materials, tools and techniques, both in relation to tradition and innovation
- is capable of defining and implementing a development project related to the subject area painting
- is capable of using and reflecting on subject specific theory in relation to the subject areas and for teaching
General competence:
The student

Teaching and learning methods
Teaching and learning methods
The work methods vary between studio work, workshops, lectures, self-study and group work. Different teaching methods for supervision and assessment are used throughout the course, and creative and explorative work is emphasised.
All key aspects of the course will not necessarily be covered at lectures and workshops. The student is expected to study the course literature independently, self-study an active participation in organised teaching and workshops.

Course requirements
Course Requirements
The coursework requirements will be assessed as approved/not approved. The coursework is assessed by the course teachers. If the coursework requirements are not approved, the student will be given one attempt to amend and improve his/her work. All coursework requirements must be approved before the student can take the exam.

Assessment
Assessment
The exam is a project assignment within a topic in painting of the students choice. The project assignment consists of the following requirements:
- Delimitation of project with problem
- Written part where subject theory, professional anchoring and method description are included. Range: 2000-2500 words
- Investigations and completed practical creative work
Exam results can be appealed.

Godkjent av studieutvalget ved fakultet LUI 8. januar 2014. Etablert av fakultetsstyret 10. april 2014.Revidert versjon godkjent av studieutvalget ved LUI 5. mars 2015. Redaksjonelle endringer foretatt 20. januar og 6. juli 2017. Revisjon godkjent på fullmakt av leder i utdanningsutvalget 19. desember 2019. Gjeldende fra vårsemesteret 2019.
Emnet Fjerntolking er en innføring i skjermtolking og telefontolking. Emnet vektlegger en praktisk-teoretisk innføring i tolking hvor én eller begge samtaleparter er geografisk atskilt fra tolken.

The Exam Project is assessed according to the grading system A-F. The grade F is awarded if the exam is not approved.

The Exam Project is assessed by an internal examiner and an co-examiner (assesses a selection of the exam assignments). External examiners are used regularly.

Overlapping courses
Retten til å avlegge eksamen forutsetter godkjente arbeidskrav og deltakelse i nærmere definerte faglige aktiviteter.
Arbeidskrav
Følgende arbeidskrav må være godkjent før eksamen kan avlegges:
- Gjennomføring av egne øvelser i fjerntolking med praktisk-teoretisk analyse; dvs. refleksjonsnotat på 250-300 ord over egne fjerntolkingsøvelser. Notatet kan utvides for innlevering til avsluttende vurdering.
- Observasjon av øvelser med fagfellevurdering, dvs. refleksjonsnotat på 250-300 ord med praktisk-teoretisk analyse over medstudentøvelse(r).
Formålet med det første arbeidskravet er å gjøre studenten bevisst egne tolketekniske strategier og øke studentens fortrolighet med situasjonen. Formålet med det andre arbeidskravet er å gjøre studenten bevisst muligheter og begrensninger som teknologien medfører under tolking, og slik øke studentens fortrolighet med situasjonen.
Faglig aktivitet med krav om deltakelseGjennom studiet skal studentene blant annet utvikle praktiske ferdigheter og språklig kompetanse knyttet til tolking i ulike situasjoner. Denne type ferdigheter og kompetanse kan ikke tilegnes ved selvstudium, men må opparbeides gjennom reell dialog med medstudenter og lærere, og ved tilstedeværelse i undervisningen. Det er derfor krav om tilstedeværelse i følgende faglige aktiviteter:
- Læringsaktiviteter på nett
- Samlinger ved OsloMet
Manglende deltakelse i faglige aktiviteter nevnt over, medfører at studenten mister retten til å avlegge eksamen. Sykdom fritar ikke for deltakelse i læringsaktiviteter på nett og tilstedeværelse på samlinger. For å få avlegge eksamen kreves det minimum 80 % deltakelse i læringsaktiviteter på nett og minimum 80 % tilstedeværelse på samlinger.
