Course history
  • Introduction

    Through practical training at a pharmacy, the students will gradually develop a basis for exercising pharmaceutical discretion and for mastering the professional role of pharmacist with a bachelor's degree.

    The students will use their knowledge of the discipline to carry out relevant pharmaceutical tasks at the pharmacy. They will acquire new knowledge, new skills and develop a professional ethical attitude that can only be learnt through practical work. The purpose of practical training at a pharmacy is to give the students an opportunity to train in a realistic work situation for the purpose of preparing the students as best as possible to practise their profession in a responsible and independent manner.

    Listed below are;the subjects covered by the course, with credits specified:

    Pharmacy pharmaceutics, 20 credits

  • Required preliminary courses

    Passed the second year of the programme.

  • Learning outcomes

    The students have been introduced to practical training in previous courses. During this period of practical training, the students will normally be placed at a community pharmacy or hospital pharmacy. They will be closely followed up by a supervisor at the pharmacy and have regular supervision sessions. The practical training placement is structured in accordance with the manual for period of study at a pharmacy and the programme's own practical training compendium, which includes compulsory assignments among other things. Some assignments are approved by the practical training supervisor at the pharmacy and some by the programme lecturers. Cooperation and feedback from other students is facilitated via digital tools.

    • all compulsory assignments related to the practical training, as set out in the practical training compendium

  • Assessment

    Practical training: The midway and final assessments are made by the practical training supervisor and the contact lecturer at OsloMet. The final decision on whether the course is passed or not is made by the university.

    Exam: One external and one internal examiner will assess all the candidates.
