Schedule
  • Introduction

After completing the course, the student has the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:

    Knowledge

    The student:

    • has in-depth knowledge of the basis for and the theory behind the design of non-tensioned reinforced structural elements for moment, shear and axial force as well as combinations of these.
    • knows the principles and methods for design of prestressed reinforced concrete structures
    • knows the principles of building with concrete elements

    Skills

    The student can:

    • design construction elements in non-tensioned reinforced concrete according to NS-EN 1992.
    • explain the principles of prestressed concrete
    • calculate load distribution in slabs and nodes in precast concrete buildings according to NS-EN 1992 1-1 and "Betongelementboken"
    • use software to model, analyse and design constructions in non-tensioned reinforced concrete

    General competence

    The student:

    • can design simple constructions and buildings in non-tensioned reinforced concrete
    • can make independent assessments of alternative technical solutions
    • has the ability to make critical assessments of results from calculation programs
  • Recommended preliminary courses

BYGG2700 Overvann brukt som ressurs tas parallelt

  • Required preliminary courses

Lectures, supervision of assigned exercises, laboratory work and group projects

  • Learning outcomes

The following coursework is compulsory and must be approved before the student can sit the exam:

    • 4 of 5 individual exercises
    • participation in introduction course in software (2 hours)
  • Teaching and learning methods

    Portfolio-exam consisting of two parts:

    1. Project report from group assignment (10 - 20 pages), counts about 30% of grade
    2. Individual written test under supervision, 3 hours, counts about 70% of the grade

The two exam parts will be taken into consideration together. Both parts must be passed (grade E or better) to pass the course.

    Examination results can be appealed.

In the event of a new or postponed exam, an oral exam can be used. If an oral exam is used for a new or postponed exam, the exam result cannot be appealed.
