Content
The course consists of the following subject areas, specified below as the number of credits:
External practical training at a laboratory, 10 credits
Teaching and learning methods
Work and teaching methods comprise seminars and external practical training.
The students must undergo seven weeks of supervised external practical training in a medical laboratory.
Course requirements
No particular coursework requirements.
Note that there is an attendance requirement for practical training and activities related to practical training. For more information about the attendance requirement in practical training, see ‘Assessment of external practical training’ in the main section of the programme description.
Assessment
Assessment of practical training. The minimum attendance requirement for practical training and preparatory seminars is 90%. In addition, attendance is required for the concluding reflection conversation at OsloMet. For more information about the attendance requirement in practical training, see ‘Assessment of external practical training’ in the main section of the programme description.
New assessment/exam: If the student fails the practical training period, he/she must normally retake the whole period.

Examiners
The midway assessment is made by the practical training supervisor and the contact lecturer at the university. The final assessment of the practical training is made by the practical training supervisor. The final decision on whether to award a pass or fail grade is made by the university after the concluding reflection conversation has taken place.
