Introduction
Both the language of instruction and the course literature are in English, making the study program well-suited for international students and student mobility. The study program is structured so that it is possible for the students to take one semester abroad, in the third or fourth semester. These will also be the semesters for exchange students from abroad to join the master program at OsloMet for one semester.
Internationalization in this master program is four-fold by taking an approach from different angles. This master’s program educates and prepare students for an international competitive job market with (1) language of instruction in English to equip the future graduates to work in practice and academia world-wide with (2) international state-of-the-art knowledge in the field of mobility with digital skills and urban analytical techniques and tools, (3) using comparative Norwegian and international case studies in courses and (4) the program is taught by national and international trained instructors including English native speakers and academics who have long-standing experience in lecturing in English.
With student mobility, students have the opportunity to gain experience abroad at a foreign academic institution which will offer complementary courses being very relevant for the students at the master program in Transport and Urban Planning, and the courses OsloMet will offer on the master program in Transport and Urban Planning will be of interest to students attending these selected universities.
OsloMet is part of the Erasmus program for student exchange and has entered into several Erasmus+ agreements with relevant universities and university colleges.
Students can gain approval and recognition of up to 30 credits on application.

Requirements:
An average grade C or better in previously completed courses. An exchange agreement with the desired university or college must be in place before the student can apply. Acceptance from a receiving institution to an exchange-stay with the necessary academic relevance.
Application deadline: One semester prior to the planned stay.
Required preliminary courses
Required coursework means compulsory assignments or activities that must be approved within a given deadline in order for students to be able to get the course validated. The coursework requirements in this study program are linked to written assignments and compulsory attendance to some labs. The coursework requirements are described in more detail in the individual course descriptions.
Coursework requirements are set in order to promote the student’s progress and development and to ensure his/her participation in necessary elements of the program. Required coursework can also be set to ensure that students achieve a learning outcome that cannot be tested in another way.
Required coursework is assessed as approved or not approved. In the event of delays in study progress, previously approved coursework remains valid for two years, provided that the course has not changed.
Valid absence documented by e.g., a medical certificate does not exempt students from meeting the coursework requirements. Students who fail to meet the coursework requirements within the deadline due to illness or for other documented valid reasons should as far as possible be given a new chance. If another attempt at meeting a coursework requirement is not possible because of the nature of the subject/course, the student must be prepared to meet the coursework requirements on the next possible occasion. This must be agreed with the person responsible for the course on a case-by-case basis. This may result in delayed progress in the program.
If a work requirement is assessed «not approved», students have maximum two chances to retake the work requirement. A work requirement that three times is assessed «not approved», will result in loss of the right to get this course validated.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is expected to have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence:

- is familiar with key theories, issues, processes, tools and methods in cultural understanding, communication and presentation. This includes relevant theories on semiotics, ethnography, emotional design and sustainable design.

Content
The course is intended to give the students a general cultural understanding by approaching objects as a form of cultural expression and seeing the project in a cultural context and from a social perspective. The course will give the students knowledge of and experience in analysing the different cultural contexts products are part of and how they form part of their own design process.
The course aims to promote knowledge and make the students aware of the use of communication and cultural understanding in a specific design project. Students will learn to communicate using semantic tools, and through verbal and visual communication. The student will be introduced to the use of communication methods and presentation techniques and learn how to communicate a message to a target group.
The course also includes literature on ethnography, mapping, sustainability, designing presentation material and communication.
The work will result in a product, report and communication material.
Teaching and learning methods
Individual work or in groups of up to three people, lectures, workshops, presentations and discussion, literature studies and research.
Course requirements
The following coursework is compulsory and must be approved before the student can take the exam:
- Participation in organised workshops
- Oral presentation of a project using suitable media
- Reflect on learning in the project
Assessment
Portfolio assessment, individual or in groups of up to three people, subject to the following portfolio requirements in the project report:
- Scope of the portfolio - one student max 35 pages, group of two students max 40 pages, group of three students max 45 pages. Appendices come in addition.
- Process documentation in the form of pictures, graphics, text and other media, with argumentation for the development and choices made.
- Result from the designer project.
- Grounds for choices and giving an oral presentation (carried out as a coursework requirement).
- Discussion and analysis of how/what the product the student has designed communicates, and in what way and to whom.
All parts of the portfolio must be passed (grade E or better) in order to pass the exam in the course.
The exam result can be appealed.

Programplanen for Bachelor - yrkesfaglærerutdanning i elektrofag er utarbeidet ved Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus etter forskrift om rammeplan for yrkesfaglærerutdanning for trinn 8-13, fastsatt av Kunnskapsdepartementet, 18. mars 2013. Studiet gir grunnlag for tildeling av graden bachelor - yrkesfaglærer i elektrofag i henhold til forskrift om rammeplan for yrkesfaglærerutdanning.
Yrkesfaglærerutdanningen skal kvalifisere og sertifisere for arbeid som yrkesfaglærer på ungdomstrinnet og i videregående opplæring (trinn 8-13). Utdanningen skal være profesjonsrettet, relevant og praksisnær slik at studentene opparbeider et godt grunnlag for utøvelse av lærerrollen. Dannelse er et sentralt mål med utdanning generelt, og blir løpende integrert i yrkesfaglærerutdanningen. Undervisningen skal gi studentene mulighet til å ta i bruk forskningsbasert kunnskap i sin profesjonsutvikling slik at studentene opparbeider en kritisk og reflektert holdning til egen praksis og utdanningssystemet som helhet. Videre skal studentene settes i stand til å arbeide med endrings- og utviklingsarbeid i egen organisasjon. Yrkesfaglærerutdanningen vil også være nyttig i forhold til ledelse av opplæringsaktiviteter i bedrifter, fagskolesystemet og innen voksenopplæring.
Læreryrket er mangfoldig og krevende, interessant og engasjerende. Det er et viktig yrke med stor betydning for enkeltmennesket og samfunnet som helhet. Lærerrollen forutsetter derfor solid kompetanse på flere områder. Yrkesfaglærerutdanningen er bygget opp rundt følgende kompetanseområder
