Introduction
Normally taught in English. Taught in Norwegian if no English-speaking students are taking the course.
In this course, you will learn to use simulation as an educational tool. Simulation is about activities that imitate a clinical environment, where you can practise working with procedures and situations in a safe environment while gaining experience in a realistic setting. Simulation is used as a learning method and helps to improve patient safety. Live patient models and various patient simulations can be used.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should have the following overall learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
The student will have knowledge of:
• The European Union and the EEA: historical development, theories of European integration, Treaties, etc.
• Topics of EU and EEA Law: legal sources, effects of EU legislation in the national systems, the EEA Agreement, free movement of people, etc.
• The functioning of the EU institutional framework: composition and competences of the institutions, procedures, inter-institutional relations and main political dynamics that characterize the decision-making processes
• Topical issues: democracy, relationship between Norway and the EU, current issues in the European context
Skills
The student will be able to:
• Demonstrate understanding of the European integration process from both a legal and a political perspective
• Solve basic legal questions of EU Law independently, identifying and utilizing relevant legal sources
• Analyze and illustrate how the institutional structure and decision-making processes of the EU work, considering both legal and political aspects
General competence
The student will be able to:
• Understand and critically assess core issues in the European context
• Use specialized terminology and write on the topics studied
• Retrieve legal sources using international databases
Teaching and learning methods
The course is based on lectures, group work, assignments, and self-study.
Course requirements
Group home exam
- In groups of up to seven students.
- The exam period extends throughout the course.
- Scope of 1,500 words (+/- 10%).
Resit exam: A student who fails the ordinary exam can submit a reworked version once as a resit.
The assignment can be given in English or Scandinavian language. The individual group must deliver in the same language.
Assessment
All aids are permitted, as long as the rules for source referencing are complied with.

Grading scale
One external and one internal examiner will assess at least 10% of the exam papers. The remaining papers will be assessed by two internal examiners. The external examiner’s assessment should benefit all the students.
Examiners
The course overlaps 100% with SYK2820A and SYK2820B.
