Required preliminary courses
A student who has completed this course should have the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
On successful completion of this course the student
- has specialized knowledge in different technologies and techniques relevant to universal design
- has advanced knowledge of forums and channels in which research results within universal design are published
Skills
On successful completion of this course the student
- can communicate ideas through concept sketches
- can design cost-effective prototypes
- can involve and communicate with users in the design process
- can evaluate the prototypes using various forms of user testing with diverse users
- can produce user manuals and product descriptions
General competence
On successful completion of this course the student
- can communicate scientific problems, analysis and conclusions in universal design of ICT to both specialists and the general public
- has practical experience with diverse user groups with a variety of needs for universal design
Learning outcomes
This course is organized as a series of seminars where students present core concepts and topics in the literature. Guest lectures will be organized on chosen topics. Students work in groups under supervision.

Course requirements
Coursework requirements
Individual student presents two topics (20 minutes per presentation including Q&A) in class.
Participation
There is an 80% obligatory participation in order for the student to pass this course.
Assessment
- Project examination in groups. The examination consists of one project report (4000-5000 words). This part of the examination counts 60% of the final grade
- Individual oral examination (20 minutes for each candidate). The oral examination counts 40% of the final grade
Both exams must be passed in order to pass the course.
Each group may consist of up to three candidates. The oral examination cannot be appealed.

Grading scale
A grading scale of A (highest) to F (lowest) where A to E is a pass grade and F is a fail grade.
Examiners
Det benyttes intern og ekstern sensor til sensurering av besvarelsene.
Et uttrekk på minst 25 % av besvarelsene sensureres av to sensorer. Karakterene på disse samsensurerte besvarelsene skal danne grunnlag for å fastsette nivå på resten av besvarelsene.
