Course history

Introduction

Emnet gir innsikt i problemstillinger og metoder knyttet til bedriftens investerings- og finansieringsbeslutninger. Studentene lærer seg å sette opp de relevante kontantstrømmene og hvordan disse håndteres og verdsettes på en konsistent måte. Emnet gir videre et innblikk i kapitalmarkedene og markeder for ulike verdipapirer. Studentene får innsikt i verdsetting av ulike aktiva og håndtering av risiko. Studentene utvikler også sine ferdigheter i bruk av regneark med fokus på økonomiske modeller og analyser.

Emnet bygger på Bedriftsøkonomi. Det er;også en ubetinget fordel om studenten har fullført Matematikk og Statistikk tilsvarende emnene i vårt 1. studieår.

Required preliminary courses

This course advances the student's understanding of the strategy process, content and context. The purpose is to develop individuals that can hold staff positions or consultants within the areas of strategic analysis, planning and strategy process design. Knowledge and skills obtained in this course will be practical and useful in organizations where strategy implementation and organizational change is a part of the challenge.

Language of instruction is English.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures and discussions in plenary sessions, group work and other forms of learning methods will be used.

Course requirements

The following coursework requirements must have been approved in order for the student to take the exam:

  • Coursework 1: A portfolio which includes hand-ins and presentations. Individual participation is a part of the portfolio evaluation. Specification of the portfolio:
    • Group presentations of two cases and/or two journal articles
    • Group projects during the semester: max 20 pages
    • Individual process reflection: max 3 pages
    • Individual participation in discussions

The purpose of the coursework is to provide good insight and abilities to work with various approaches to strategic analysis. 

All required coursework must be completed and approved by the given deadline in order for the student to take the exam. 

Assessment

The exam in the course is a supervised exam of 4 hours.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

The following aids are permitted:

  • One dictionary: Native language-English/English-native language or English-English

Grading scale

Grade scale A - F

Examiners

The exam papers are assessed by one internal and one external examiner.

At least 25% of the exam papers will be assessed by two examiners. The grades awarded for the papers assessed by two examiners form the basis for determining the level for all the exam papers.
