Introduction
This course builds on the course Strategic Human Resources Management and focuses on the management's responsibility for mapping and developing an organisation's working environment.

Knowledge
The student has

- in-depth knowledge of important theories and empirical data in the field at the national as well as the international level

- critical and independent thinking about relevant working environment and leadership issues

Content
The course¿s overall perspective is that mapping and developing a good working environment in organisations is a leadership responsibility.
The following topics will be elucidated:
- What is meant by working environment, and why is knowledge of it important to present and future leaders?
- Job satisfaction, engagement, empowerment, creativity and efficiency
- Interaction in organisations - organisational climate, organisational culture and conflict resolution/negotiation
- Health in organisations - health promotion work, stress, burnout and sickness absence
- Interaction between management and working environment
- Mapping/measuring and changing organisations

Teaching and learning methods
The main work methods in this course are lectures, seminar contributions and role play.

Course requirements
In the student presentations, students present an article from the reading list and an empirical study conducted within a working environment-related area. These presentations will be given in groups of two to five students and have a duration of 45 minutes. The presentations must be approved before students can submit the semester paper. Students who fail to qualify, will be given one opportunity to present again.

Assessment
The students will write a semester paper, individually or in pairs. The scope of the paper shall be 12-15 pages for students who write individual papers and 16-20 pages for papers written by two students together (not including the cover page, list of references and appendices) written in Times New Roman 12-point font above with a line spacing of 1.5 and a 2.5 cm left margin.

Permitted exam materials and equipment
All reference aids are allowed as long as the rules for source references are followed.

Grading scale
A grade scale with grades from A to E for pass and F for fail is used.

Examiners
An external examiner will assess the papers with an internal examiner.
