Special needs in connection with exchange - Student

Special needs and exchange from OsloMet

Special needs and exchange from OsloMet

Do you want to go on exchange from OsloMet to one of our partner institutions abroad and have special needs? OsloMet aims to provide all students the possibility of going on exchange.

If you are a student with a disability and have special needs, you should contact the international coordinator, who will help you look into which services are available at the institution you wish to go on an exchange to. It varies from country to country what services are available. Examples include:

  • Adapted accommodation

  • Accessibility/access

  • Adaptation of examinations/alternative examination forms

  • Adapted course literature (audiobooks)

  • Possibilities for assistance

Most educational institutions have a special needs service that can be contacted for further information about what forms of adaptation are available to students.

You might be eligible for additional assistance as a student abroad. Read more about health rights abroad through National Health Insurance Scheme (helsenorge.no).

For Erasmus+ students

Additional funds are awarded via the Erasmus+ programme when special adaptation is required for students taking part of their education at one of our partner institutions in Europe. If you receive financial support in Norway that will be discontinued during your exchange, the additional grant from Erasmus+ can cover up to 100% of such costs.

To apply, please send an email including a medical certificate to erasmus@oslomet.no

Reservations:

  • When you are granted additional support from Erasmus+, it is important to check that this will not come at the expense of support that you are already receiving from other public agencies, such as the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) or the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). The grant from Erasmus+ is intended to cover additional expenses that are not covered outside of Norway.
  • OsloMet and the recipient institution have a mutual responsibility to facilitate your exchange in the best possible way.

If you have any questions, please send an email to Services for students with special needs at OsloMet.
