California State University - Northridge
California State University - Northridge
About the study place
The University of California, Northridge (CSUN) is located in the Northridge neighbourhood, in the northern part of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is one of the largest and most diverse metropolitan areas in the United States. Northridge is a more residential and campus‑focused area, with a slower pace than the central parts of the city. For students, this offers a combination of an accessible campus environment and easy access to the many opportunities of a major city, such as beaches, concerts, museums, and outdoor recreation in the surrounding mountain areas. The climate features warm, dry summers and mild winters. Living costs in the Los Angeles area are high, particularly when it comes to housing, and many students therefore live in shared accommodation or at some distance from campus. As elsewhere in the United States, it is important to have comprehensive private health insurance.
CSUN was founded in 1958 and is a large public university offering a broad range of academic programmes. The university places strong emphasis on inclusive teaching, practice‑oriented education, and close links to working life in Southern California. The campus is large and green, with libraries, student housing, sports facilities and numerous social meeting places, and much of student life takes place on campus.
