About the study place

Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCAD) is centrally located in Toronto, in the province of Ontario, Canada, with its campus close to the city centre.

Toronto is Canada’s largest city and offers a rich cultural and artistic scene with museums, galleries, festivals, concerts and a large creative community. For students, Toronto provides many academic and social opportunities, as well as access to part‑time work. Nature is also easily accessible, with parks throughout the city and excursion opportunities to Lake Ontario and national parks in the surrounding region. The climate features cold winters and warm summers. According to travel advice from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (regjeringen.no), Canada is considered a safe country to stay in. It is important to be aware that the cost of living in Toronto is higher than in Norway, particularly when it comes to housing, and finding affordable student accommodation can be challenging. Many students choose to live in shared housing or slightly outside the city centre to reduce costs.

OCAD University is Canada’s oldest and largest institution specialising in art, design and creative research, founded in 1876. The university offers programmes in fields such as visual arts, graphic design, industrial design, interaction design, illustration, art theory and digital art. OCAD is known for its strong artistic profile, practice‑based teaching and close connections to the creative and cultural industries. For OsloMet students, OCAD can be an attractive exchange destination within design and creative disciplines in a global metropolitan setting.
