About the study place

Concordia University is located in Montreal in the province of Québec, Canada. The main campuses are Sir George Williams Campus, situated in the city centre, and Loyola Campus, located in the western part of the city.

Montreal is Canada’s second‑largest city and an important centre for education, culture and technology. The city is known for its bilingual environment (French and English), strong student culture, and a rich selection of music, arts, festivals and food. With around four million inhabitants in the metropolitan area, Montreal offers a major city experience while maintaining relatively moderate living costs compared with cities such as Toronto and Vancouver. The city has a well‑developed public transport system and relatively short distances. Canada is generally considered a safe country to live in (regjeringen.no).

Concordia University was established in 1974 through the merger of two older institutions and is today one of Canada’s largest universities. The university is particularly well known for strong academic environments in business (John Molson School of Business), engineering, IT, media and communication studies, social sciences, arts and design. Student life is closely integrated with the city.
