About the study place

Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) is located in the province of Ontario, Canada, with its main campus in the city of Waterloo. The university also has campuses in Brantford and Milton.

Waterloo is a mid‑sized university city with around 350,000 inhabitants. According to Wilfrid Laurier University, the city is small enough to feel safe and easy to get around, while still being large enough to offer good restaurants and entertainment options. Toronto is approximately 1–1.5 hours away by train or car. The surrounding area offers green spaces, parks and recreational opportunities. According to travel advice from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Canada is considered a safe country to stay in (regjeringen.no).

Wilfrid Laurier University was founded in 1911 and is a public university. WLU has a strong student‑focused profile, with smaller class sizes and close interaction between students and academic staff. The Waterloo campus is compact and green, featuring libraries, student housing, sports facilities and many social meeting places, and much of student life takes place on and around campus.
