Monash University, Malaysia
Monash University, Malaysia
About the study place
Monash University Malaysia is located in Bandar Sunway, a modern area approximately 20–30 minutes’ drive from central Kuala Lumpur.
The area hosts many international students, green parks, shopping centres, restaurants and a wide range of services, including public transport. Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and has around two million inhabitants, offering a rich urban and cultural life. From this area, there are good travel opportunities both within Malaysia and to other countries in the region. When travelling in Malaysia, you can experience everything from untouched rainforest and mountains rising above 4,000 metres to a beautiful coastline. According to travel advice from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (regjeringen.no), Malaysia is considered a relatively safe country to stay in, but visitors are advised to remain attentive and follow local laws and regulations. The overall cost of living is lower than in Norway.
The university is an international campus of the Australian Monash University, one of Australia’s leading universities, and was established in 1998 as the first foreign university campus in Malaysia. The campus has around 11,000 students from more than 70 countries and offers a wide range of academic disciplines, including engineering, IT, pharmacy, business and social sciences. Students benefit from modern facilities, a globally recognised education at a lower cost than in Australia, and the opportunity to study in a dynamic and diverse country.
