Manipal Academy of Higher Education is located in the town of Manipal in the state of Karnataka, on the southwest coast of India.

Manipal is a relatively small university town, approximately 65 kilometres north of the coastal city of Mangaluru. The area has a tropical climate, with warm temperatures year‑round and a pronounced monsoon season from June to September. For students, Manipal offers a calm and campus‑focused environment with short distances between accommodation, teaching facilities and everyday services. The surrounding region provides opportunities for outdoor activities and travel, including nearby beaches along the Arabian Sea, hill areas in the Western Ghats and cultural sites in southern India. 

Manipal Academy of Higher Education is a large private university and an Institution of Eminence in India, known for its international orientation and interdisciplinary profile. The university offers programmes across a wide range of fields, including health sciences, engineering, technology, management, social sciences and education. MAHE has a strong focus on applied research, innovation and global collaboration, and hosts a diverse international student population.

  • Credits

    The credits will be approved at OsloMet in the period you are at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. The exchange will be part of your internship and/or work with your bachelor's thesis.

  • Semester division

    Occupational therapy students can exchange from January - April (3 months) during the 4th semester

    Bioengineering students can exchange from March - June (3 months) during the 6th semester

  • Housing

    Manipal offers several housing options for international students through its Student Support Services. The most relevant options are the New International Hostel (NIH), located on campus, and Satkar Paradise, which is situated close to campus. Students are advised to reserve accommodation well in advance of arrival.
