About the study place

Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd is a university of applied sciences with a focus on design. The school offers four different bachelor’s degree programmes in communication, interaction, digital and product design as well as a master’s degree programme in strategic design.

Schwäbisch Gmünd is a city of around 60,000 inhabitants in the eastern part of the German state of Baden-Württemberg in the southern part of the country. It is about an hour’s drive from the larger city of Stuttgart. Schwäbisch Gmünd can trace its history back to the Roman age and is therefore home to many historical structures and buildings including fortresses and churches. This is a picturesque small city at the foot of the Swabian Alps and the river Rems. Despite its size, this city is full of tradition and culture with a wide range of art and other cultural events. There is a blooming independent music scene and a creative, vibrant art scene.

HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd is a school that sees design as an innovative discipline with elements of science, social and technical studies. The school views itself as a dynamic organization that always strives after improvement and the high quality of its education.
