Do you know a student who has made an extraordinary effort for the study and learning environment at OsloMet?

Nomination deadline: 1 June

Student of the year is awarded to a student who has excelled in their efforts for the study and learning environment, and has been a role model for other students. You can influence who gets the prize by submitting your nomination.

Statutes

The prize will be awarded to a student who has distinguished herself/himself through activities and efforts in three categories:

Study and learning environment

  • Taken initiative for academic and / or social activities in their study or academic environment
  • Been inclusive towards fellow students and others
  • Engaged in student life in general, for example student politics, student associations or such

Professional role model

  • Has strengthend their studies or academic environment in a posistive way
  • Has excelled in their subject or studies nationally or internationally
  • Has good results in their studies
  • Has contributed in strengthening OsloMets reputation in a positive way, for example in practice, in media, in social media and so on. Give a short answer and please use spesific examples.

Community involvement

  • Is concerned with equality and understands other people's lives and backgroun
  • Engages in the local community, participates in the public exchange of words and the like.

The purpose of the prize is to reward and stimulate further effort for a good study and learning environment, and to inspire both the prize recipient and other students at the university.

How to nominate your candidate

Both students and employees at OsloMet may nominate candidates via a simple web form.
In the nomination form you are kindly asked to state why your candidate deserves the award Student of the year. Please provide short answers, preferably with specific examples.

The jury may, on its own initiative and if necessary, obtain more information about the nominees.

Vice Rector for education is the owner of the award and appoints a jury to evaluate the submitted proposals. The composition of the jury is as follows:

  • Vice Rector for Education (Chair)
  • Vice Rector for Research and Development
  • Two external student representatives from other institutions, preferably The National Union of Students in Norway (NSO)
  • One representative from the Student Parliament's working committee
  • Two staff representatives from the university board.

The prize is announced and awarded by the Vice Rector for Education in September each year. Keep yourselves updated on the student- and employee websites.
