Course history

Introduction

Passing a professional examination is one of the conditions for obtaining authorization as a nurse. The Directorate of Health has on 05.06.2019 decided that you who complete the education at OsloMet fulfill this additional requirement through SKOMP3000.

Passed course SKOMP1000, SKOMP1100 and SKOMPPRA10.

Learning outcomes

The learning outcomes of the course are based on the other courses in the programme and focus on areas of importance to patient safety and nursing skills.

This applies in particular to the following:

 

Skills

The student has basic knowledge and action competence

  • in encounters with acutely ill patients
  • in encounters with surgery patients (preoperative, peroperative and postoperative)
  • in encounters with medical patients
  • in encounters with frail elderly patients

Teaching and learning methods

Students will first be given an introduction, then have some time to prepare for the practical exam. The exam is normally conducted in the course of one day.

Assessment

Test - Practical Skills in Nursing, consisting of:

  • Multiple Choice 2 hours. 40 questions 60% right for passing
  • Practical test (modified OSCE test), related to surgical, medical and geriatric patient care, as well as emergency medicine. Implemented station-based.

 

If one part of the test fails, both parts must be retaken.

The tests set up late in the spring semester.

The exam will be conducted late in the spring semester. Students have three attempts at the exam, in line with other exams.

Permitted exam materials and equipment

None.

Grading scale

Pass/Fail.

Examiners

At least four internal and one external examiner.

The examiners award points based on predefined checklists with criteria based on the learning outcomes in the course descriptions.

SKOMP3000 and SKOMPD3000 overlap 100 %.
