Semester start guide for employees 2024
In August we are welcoming about 10 000 new students at OsloMet. Here you can find useful information about the semester start for employees at OsloMet.
Check list for instructors
Use the check list to see what you, as an instructor, should have prepared for the new semester.
Events during semester start
- 12 August at Pilestredet: Orientation meeting for new international students (student.oslomet.no).
- 13 August, 3.30 pm: Welcome ceremony at St. Hanshaugen park (student.oslomet.no). There are buses going from campus Kjeller to St. Hanshaugen.
- 15 August at Kjeller: Support and counselling services at stands. Then games and a barbeque on the rooftop.
- 15 August at Pilestredet: Association day (student.oslomet.no)
- 31 August to 6 September: Studentslippet. Studentslippet is an offer for all new students. Via Studentslippet new students can get free access to many attractions, museums and activities and get to know Oslo as well as each other. You can find information in English under each activity.
Information for students
New students get the information they need for semester start by searching for their study programme from the front page of student.oslomet.no. On these pages they can find information about when to meet and where, curriculum, schedules, the programme for the first day of semester and buddy week.
We have also made a page with information about semester start for students (student.oslomet.no). On this page you can also find the student check list for semester start (student.oslomet.no).
Introduction course for new students
Most new students will be offered a digital introduction course prior to semester start (oslomet.instructure.com). The course is currently only available in Norwegian.
Buddy week and buddy watch
For many of our students buddy week is an important part of semester start, and we have a international buddy board for international students. Buddies are sources for information at semester start and it is therefore important that we collaborate with the buddies and the buddy boards.
- Check out the buddy week programmes for the different study programmes (student.oslomet.no). These are updated regularly.
- Contact the buddy boards (student.oslomet.no)
Do you want to join buddy watch? Employees at OsloMet and our collaborators are invited to join the buddy watch 16 and 17 August. Contribute with water and some nice interactions with our new students. Join the buddy watch (in Norwegian, sio.no).
Does your student need anyone to talk to?
Are you unsure of where to guide your students when they need someone to talk to? Studenttorget in the Student house P52 has several services and offers for all students.
