Lack of Funding for Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
OsloMet will have less funding available for Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) moving forward.
BIPs are study programs that combine online teaching with a short period of physical exchange. Participating in others’ BIPs and creating new ones has become very popular, especially in programs where longer exchange periods are difficult to arrange.
Reduced Funding
The reason for the reduced funding for BIPs is that both the number of Erasmus+ student exchanges and the scholarship rates for these students are increasing, without a corresponding increase in the funding OsloMet and other institutions receive for scholarships. As a result, the total budget OsloMet has available for Erasmus+ initiatives is no longer sufficient.
We have already been forced to cancel the announcement of staff mobility funds for two semesters and now see no alternative but to cancel the announcement of Erasmus+ BIP funding for the spring of 2026. The lack of funding for Erasmus+ initiatives is a challenge for the entire sector.
The next call for applications will therefore be in February 2026, for funding to participate in BIPs during both semesters of the 2026/2027 academic year. By having an early application deadline, we aim to apply for and secure funding for all the new projects that arise.
How to Apply?
To participate and receive Erasmus+ funding for BIPs, both for yourself and your students, you must submit an application as an OsloMet employee within the applicable deadlines.
