Innledning

Følgende arbeidskrav er obligatorisk og må være godkjent for å fremstille seg til eksamen:

  • En midtveispresentasjon av studentens prosjekt lagt frem muntlig foran medstudenter og underviser.

  • has in-depth knowledge of how policies impact the reform of educational systems and how they support or impede improvements in curriculum, teaching, and student achievement.
  • has in-depth knowledge about analysing the social dimensions of science and digital technologies in the educational field in both curriculum, teaching, and student achievement.

Skills

  • Is able to analyse the political, social, economic and legal dynamics that affect policy development and implementation in the educational field.
  • Is able to analyse and critically evaluate the development and implementation of digital technologies in education.
  • Is able to analyse and critically evaluate the scientific and political bases for the introduction of digital technologies in education.
  • Can integrate STS methodologies into own research projects.

General competence

  • Can identify how public policy decision-making related to digital technologies in education at local, state, and national levels have an impact on education institutions, students, and the public.
  • Can develop nuanced readings and critiques of current STS literature
  • Can integrate STS methodologies and perspectives into the candidate’s own research projects.

Innhold

In the Education Policy program, students will consider how laws and policies impact the reform of educational systems and how they support or impede improvements in curriculum, teaching, and student achievement. Furthermore, students will analyse the political, social, economic and legal dynamics that affect policy development and implementation.

Vurderingsuttrykk

Emnet gir en innføring i grunnleggende programmering og begreper inkludert algoritmisk tenkning. Det blir lagt vekt på hvordan programmering kan inngå i skolekonteksten som eget fag og integrert i fag. Først og fremst blir det fokusert på praktisk arbeid med blokkbasert programmering. Følgende tema vil bli vektlagt:

  • Problemløsing og algoritmisk tenkning.
  • Blokkbasert programmering og programmeringsprinsipper.
  • Programmering som kompetanse i samfunnet, læreplaner og relevansen for trening av kritisk tenkning.
  • Utvikling av kreativitet og samarbeid i programmeringsaktiviteter.

Admission requirements

The requirements for admission include completing a five-year master's program (integrated or consisting of a three-year bachelor's program and a two-year master's program, in total 300 ECTS) in the fields of teacher education, other pedagogical disciplines, educational science, development studies, social sciences, or other relevant areas related to the PhD programme. The master's degree should include a substantial independent project equivalent to a master's thesis (minimum 30 ECTS). In case of a large number of applicants, PhD-students enrolled in the PhD programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education will be prioritized, then students in other PhD programmes, then academic employees at the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies.

Applicants who are not enrolled in the PhD programme at the Faculty of Education and International Studies at OsloMet must send a summary in English of maximum one A4 sheet with relevant information about their own project/area of interest, containing topic, methodology, theoretical approach, and why this course might be relevant for their project.
