Innledning

I dette emnet inngår kritisk analyse og refleksjon over kunnskapsstatus og utviklingspotensial for det kunst og designdidaktiske forskningsfelt. Samfunnsutvikling og aktuelle tema fra samtid og historie sees i sammenheng med utvikling av skolefag, undervisningspraksis og forskning i både en nasjonal, nordisk og internasjonal kontekst. Etiske perspektiv innen design, kunst og håndverk vil bli problematisert i forhold til enkeltindividers valg og samfunnets utvikling.

Students are expected to read the syllabus before the course to be able to participate actively in discussions.

Læringsutbytte

The candidate writes an individual essay of between 4000 - 6000 words. It can be written in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. The essay must be related to relevant themes in the course syllabus. The theme of the essay shall be approved by the course coordinator in advance. The essay must be submitted within six weeks after the course.

New and postponed examination

If an essay cannot be passed, the candidate must submit one revised version within a given deadline.

Arbeids- og undervisningsformer

The learning outcomes serve as criteria for assessments. The grades are "pass" or "fail".

Arbeidskrav og obligatoriske aktiviteter

The essay will be assessed by the course coordinator and a member of the academic staff involved in the PhD program.

Target Group

The target group is PhD candidates/students who plan to conduct Action Research projects and want to learn more about epistemology, methodology, and ethics related to their own work

Admission requirements

The requirements for admission include completing a five-year master's program (integrated or consisting of a three-year bachelor's program and a two-year master's program, in total 300 ECTS) in the fields of teacher education, other pedagogical disciplines, educational science, development studies, social sciences, or other relevant areas related to the PhD programme. The master's degree should include a substantial independent project equivalent to a master's thesis (minimum 30 ECTS). In case of a large number of applicants, PhD-students enrolled in the PhD programme in Educational Sciences for Teacher Education will be prioritized, then students in other PhD-programmes, then academic employees at the Faculty of Teacher Education and International Studies.

Applicants who are not enrolled in the PhD programme at the Faculty of Education and International Studies at OsloMet must send a summary in English of maximum one A4 sheet with relevant information about their own project/area of interest, containing topic, methodology, theoretical approach, and why this course might be relevant for their project.
