Have you done all you need to do before you start your classes?

As a new student, there are many important things you need to sort out before your classes start. We have created a checklist for new students where you can find information on registration and much more.

  • Username and PIN code
Wait to receive the email “OsloMet: Activate your IT user account” containing your username and PIN code.
  • Access to IT services at OsloMet
Go to: Manage your IT account. You can change the language to English in the top right menu. Choose "Activate your user account".
Log in with the username and PIN code that you received in the e-mail/sms. After you have activated your account you can login on Fronter (you have to wait up to 24 hours before you can log in the first time), e- mail , wireless network, StudentWeb and OsloMet computers.
Need help? Send questions about your password or pin code to our IT helpdesk, bit@hioa.no
  • Registration and payment of fees
All students must register. You have to register for the semester at OsloMet before September 1st (in addition you have to register at UiO). All subject registration and payment occurs in UiOs system.
  • Semester Card and student ID-card
You will need a semester card and a student ID-card. The student ID-card functions as an access card to the buildings on campus and as a library card.
Your student ID-card is only valid as a student ID outside of OsloMet if you also have your semester card and you need both cards to buy and use travel tickets with a student discount. (e.g. at Ruter or NSB).
Get your student ID-card at the Card Centre at the beginning of the semester. Please bring ID when collecting your student card. More information about when to collect your ID-card will be given at the start of the semester or in your lecture schedule.
