Exemption from teaching and examinations due to religious public holidays

Exemption from teaching and examinations due to religious public holidays

The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research regards exemption due to religious public holidays as a special need. OsloMet shall facilitate for exemption due to religious public holidays as far as this is possible and reasonable.

In accordance with the Norwegian Act relating to Universities and University Colleges ยง 4-3 subsection five, the institution shall, as far as possible and reasonable, adapt the learning environment for students with special needs. The adaptation shall not lead to reduction of the academic requirements for the study programme in question. The institution and the student should cooperate with regard to good and appropriate solutions. The student is encouraged to apply for adaptation well in advance.

You will find an overview of interfaith public holidays on the website of The Council for Religious and Life Stance Communities in Norway.  If you experience that compulsory teaching or examinations collide with religious holidays relating to your religious community, please contact your faculty.
