Sheffield is both a city and metropolitan borough in the county of South Yorkshire located in the north of England. It is located approximately 60 km south of Leeds and 60 km east of Manchester. The city of Sheffield has a population of over 500,000 and has all the facilities of a major city. This is a city known as the "Steel City", due to its international reputation for steel production in the 19th century. The city has a proud sports heritage and is home to both the world's oldest football club Sheffield F.C., and the world's oldest football ground Sandygate. Sheffield has often been voted as one of the UK’s friendliest and safest cities.
